Environmental Health – Vector Control Program
The Perry County Health Department Environmental Division is offering a paid summer internship opportunity in Mosquito Surveillance and Pesticide application beginning mid April until September for up to 20 hours per week at $8.15 per hour. Under supervision of a Sanitarian the intern will learn about the biology of the mosquito and mosquito borne illnesses; learn about proper pesticide handling and application techniques, laws, and safety; and learn about mosquito trapping and operating mosquito pesticide application equipment. Hours will vary but will range between 7:00pm-12:00am 2-4 days per week for pesticide application and roughly 5 to 7 hours per week during normal business hours (7:00am-5:00pm) for mosquito trapping and surveillance.
